Adult Services - Waltham Forest
Carers FIRST delivers the Provision of Wellbeing and Independence Services for Carers in Waltham Forest, supporting  carers and families by providing emotional and practical support, advice, information and guidance, and opportunities for carers to access  training, social groups, activities, trips and more.
Carers FIRST runs groups for carers which give opportunities to come together to meet and chat with others who may find themselves facing similar issues. The groups are informal and all carers are welcome.

We also run several support groups which focus on specific health conditions. In partnership with Alzheimer’s Society we run a bi monthly group for those caring for someone with a diagnosis of dementia. For those caring for someone with a mental health condition Carers FIRST runs a bi monthly group at Waltham Forest Resource Hub, starting from November 2016.
Crafty Carers
On Wednesdays once each month, we run a group led by a local artist where carers can come along and get creative. You don’t have to be good at art, everyone is welcome to attend this relaxing group. It’s a great way to meet new carers and learn something new. No need to book – just turn up.

Relaxation Classes
When you care for someone it's so easy to let your own wellbeing slip down the list of priorities so taking some time out for a yoga practice can really help restore and rejuvenate you.  In these small friendly classes you will learn how to breathe well, move the body gently to release tension held in the muscles and stretch to increase your flexibility.  In time you will develop your strength, stamina and flexibility which all enable you to learn how to deeply relax and quieten the mind as the tension lifts. Relaxation classes run every Wednesday.
