Who we are

Carers FIRST is an independent, charitable organisation supporting and helping carers in Tonbridge & Malling, Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Edenbridge and the surrounding areas. Carers FIRST is funded by Kent Social Services, Trusts, Connexions and private donations.

If you are looking after an ill or disabled relative or friend and your life is restricted because of this, or if your help is essential to enable somebody to go on living at home, then you are a carer.

How to Complain

Carers FIRST Projects

We try to offer carers the support that you need. Most of the time, we are helpful. Occasionally, we are not. We would like to hear any comments or complaints. All complaints will be treated as serious and handled in accordance with our complaints policy. If you have a complaint, please contact the Respite Care Manager (for short breaks) or the Chief Executive (for all other services) who will try to find an acceptable solution.

To file a formal complaint, please write to the Chief Executive. Your complaint will be investigated and a written reply sent to you normally within 4 weeks from the receipt of your complaint. If the problem is stil not resolved to your satisfaction, you may contact our Trustees at our address: 192 High Street, Tonbridge TN9 1BE

Older Carers of People with Learning Disabilities

This project runs not only in Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks but also in the Dartford, Gravesend and Swanley area.

Carers of People with Additional Mental Health Needs This project offers carers training and the opportunity to socialize and relax, as well as providing individual support.

Young Carers Projects We currently run five Young Carer projects. They provide one to one, as well as group support and activities.

We run groups for 9-11 year olds at the Sunrise Centre in Southborough and at Carers FIRST offices in Tonbridge for 11-13 year olds on alternate Tuesdays; a young carer group for 7-9
