Are you considering further education? Are you a carer who is worried about how this would work for you?
Join us on Zoom as we provide a session on the support available for carers at university and further education. Hear from UCAS on their new application process as well as from the University of Greenwich about the support available while at university.
Who is the session for and who will be speaking?
The session is designed for any carer who is interested in applying for further education. You may want to know more about the application process and how your caring responsibilities will be considered, or you may want to know what support is available to you while at university. We will have speakers to talk through these aspects.
Family members and professionals who support carers are also welcome to join.
We will be joined by Holly Brown, Policy Adviser at UCAS who will talk about the application process, including the introduction of their new application questions and how they can support carers looking to apply to university.
We will also be joined by Dr Ann-Marie Tupciauskas-Richardson, Outreach Project Lead at the University of Greenwich, who will talk about support available to carers while at university.
There will also be the opportunity to ask questions.
About the Speakers
Ann-Marie Tupciauskas-Richardson is the Regional Outreach Project Lead for the University of Greenwich’s Outreach and Educational Partnerships (OEP) Team. Key aspects of her role include networking with regional schools and colleges, leading the team’s communications and newsletters, as well as the new Parent & Guardian project – which offers guidance to students’ support networks.
Holly is a policy adviser in the Progression to HE team, making sure that UCAS’s evidence-based insight helps shape the sector. After joining UCAS in June 2022, she has led on co-ordinating the ‘Journey the Million’ essay collection—a landmark report which brings together expertise from across the HE landscape to help the sector prepare for the significant uplift in applicants which we’ll see by the end of this decade. This summer, she will author a new report shedding light on the experiences of young adult carers applying to higher education.
