Alzheimer’s Society provide a range of services for people living with dementia and their carers.
National Dementia Helpline – 0300 222 11 22. Open seven days a week providing information, advice and emotional support to anyone affected by dementia.
TalkingPoint – A online community where you can ask questions, share experiences and get information and practical tips on living with dementia. It’s free to use, open 24 hours a day and all you need is an internet connection.
Findsupport near you – A comprehensive directory that allows you to find advice and information support services. Simply enter your postcode or location.
Care Choices is based in South Essex and provides local support to carers and the person they care for. Services they provide:
- Respite in the Home - a sitting service where they take the place of Carers
- Rainbow Centre - a specialist day centre for adults with disabilities based in Benfleet
- Silver Birch Centre - specialist dementia day care provision in Benfleet, Southend and Basildon using cognitive stimulation therapy in a family friendly environment
- Young Carers - supporting individual young carers and deliver activity sessions to raise confidence levels and help them cope

Carers Trust EHHR currently operate in four areas. Epping Forest, Harlow, Havering and Redbridge. The service supports family carers of all ages across the region and also offers flexible, professional care services to adults and children with a range of disabilities and health conditions.

Community Agents Essex is a countywide network of agents and volunteers who support older people and informal carers to find and develop independent living solutions from within their local community.
A Community Agent will visit you at home to discuss and help with a wide variety of areas, for example: Support to access equipment which could support independence; gaining or regaining practical living skills such as paying bills, taking medication or getting to appointments. Agents can also support to connect people into one-to-one and group interactions or activities and support people to live healthy lives by showing individuals how to prepare meals or linking individuals into community activities such as lunch clubs. Agents can also provide advice and support that ensures correct entitlement to benefits and pension.

Connect Well Essex is a website that will help you to find local help and support, help you feel more involved in your community or make some changes to improve your health and wellbeing. The site currently supports the areas of Braintree, Chelmsford, Maldon, Colchester, Tendring & Basildon.
Crossroads: Tendring And Colchester provides regular short breaks to carers who would like a little time to themselves.

Crossroads: Braintree And Chelmsford provide a trained care support worker to look after your loved one while you have a little time for yourself.
Many carers use the time to visit friends, shop or attend vital appointments to look after their own health. They operate an open referral policy where carers can refer themselves.

The Hamelin Trust is an Essex based charity supporting
children and adults with disabilities and their families. They offer a range of
services including short break respite care, an outreach service that offers
care in a person’s home or support with attending activities such as Scouts or
school trips and daytime and evening activities for young people and adults
with a range of disabilities.
Headway Essex provide provides information, advice and support to people living with acquired brain injury and those who care for them including home and hospital visits, telephone support and groups.
They also run The Headway Centre in Colchester which provides rehabilitative care to survivors of brain injury. The centre is open five days a week and helps people with brain injury with issues including improving personal health and self-care, improving self-esteem and confidence, increasing independence and reducing social isolation.

Healthwatch Essex is an independent voice for the people of Essex. They gather and represent your views about health and care services in the county to help improve them. They can also help people to find out about, access and navigate health and social care services through their Information Service.
Healthwatch recruits volunteers, known as Ambassadors, who are their ‘eyes and ears’ in communities across Essex. If you’d like to help Healthwatch gather people’s lived experience of services please contact them.

The Living Well Essex website aims to help Essex people take care of their health and well-being, manage health conditions, and find information about support and services in the local area. They also provide information on benefits and finances, staying safe, and tips on staying healthy and active.
Macmillan Cancer Support run a countywide service for those diagnosed with cancer and their families and carers. Services include Information and Resource Centres in Corringham and Colchester, Welfare benefits advice service in South, Mid and North East Essex which includes form filling and advocacy and representation at tribunals. Rethink Essex Advocacy is an advocacy service providing all forms of statutory advocacy and also non-statutory advocacy to a wide range of people across Essex.

SNAP (Special Needs And Parents) is a registered charity that helps
Essex families with children and young people who have any special need or
disability. You do not need to have a formal diagnosis to access support.
Services include a helpline parent advice, training and events, counselling and
information services. They also have a family centre in Brentwood which houses
a Children’s Activity Hall with a soft play corner and a multi-sensory board
and plenty of room for active children to play.
