Drawing the Italian Renaissance Online Drawing Course
1pm - 2pm
Venue to be confirmed
Learn to draw the human figure in this online course that celebrates the practice of life drawing, from the Renaissance to today.
Each week, you’ll be introduced to a different aspect of figure drawing, from first steps to more developed approaches, to build new skills and gain confidence in making your own experiments. Guided by drawing tutor Karly Allen, we’ll look closely at artworks in the exhibition Drawing the Italian Renaissance, including masterpieces by Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael and Carracci. Then, we will make drawings from photographs and short video footage of a living model, produced especially for the course in response to objects in the exhibition. Using everyday materials such as pencil, pen, and any paper you have to hand, you’ll be supported to make a range of drawings, from quick-fire sketches to 10-minute studies. At the end of the course, we will reflect on what we’ve learned so far, share our discoveries, and consider ways to take your drawing practice forward. In images of the living figure, the life model will be partly clothed.
This course is suitable for all abilities. No previous experience of drawing or life drawing is necessary to enjoy the course, whether you are a beginner or an expert, join us for this fantastic opportunity!
