NICE quality standards for supporting adult carers

Updated quality standards for supporting adult carers have been published.

Carers First provided information which fed into the updated standards, published by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) this month.

The standards are designed to help those who provide or commission care services. They are intended to assist those organisations in:

    • Identifying gaps and areas for improvement
    • Measuring the quality of care
    • Understanding how to improve care
    • Demonstrating you provide quality care
    • Commssioning high-quality services

Key elements of the standard include identifying and helping carers recognise their rights early and giving carers the opportunity to discuss their wellbeing and social care needs, and work, education, or training.

You can read more about the standard and how it aims to help improve the quality of services for carers, on the NICE website.
