Alison Taylor, Chief Executive Officer
Alison joined Carers First in January 2020; having worked in the charity sector, in local authorities and in health over the last thirty years. Most recently, Alison was Director of Operations at the awarding winning charity, Turn2us, which she joined at its inception. She has served on the boards of several charities and is currently a Trustee for the national charity, Gingerbread.
Working with and for carers has been a constant thread through Alison’s life. She has seen the value and importance of unpaid carers to our health and social care sectors and to our broader society and she passionately believes there needs to be greater recognition and support for carers.
Sheryl Dago, Director of Services
Sheryl is responsible for leading and managing Carers First’s community-based services teams, carers hub, and volunteer team, and working in co-production with carers to ensure that services are exceptional, well-led, safe, innovative, and ultimately contribute to making a positive difference in the lives of carers.
Sheryl has a voluntary sector background, having worked in a range of organisations over the past 15 years, both in service development and delivery and in fundraising. Amongst her previous roles, she was Head of the Young Persons Hub at CHICKS. Prior to this, she worked at Addaction in varying roles, from Service Manager to National Programme Manager to leading the Corporate Relations team.
In 2018, Sheryl became a carer for her late mother, this experience inspired her to want to make a difference to the lives of carers.
Andy Watts, Director of Income and Communications
Andy Watts is an award-winning fundraising leader who has fundraised for 15 years for causes including health, cancer care, disability, hospice, homelessness and children. Most recently he was Head of Trusts at Sue Ryder where his team have raised over £6m in three years. He is a Trustee of Home Start Hertfordshire. Andy has experienced the joys and challenges of caring with his mum living with a long-term condition. This compels him to ensure unpaid carers get the support, services and recognition they deserve.
Lynn Tyler, Finance Director
Lynn has worked for Carers First since 2001 and manages multiple income streams from grants and contracts. Lynn manages a small finance team working across all localities.
Amy Weaver, Operational Services Manager
Amy joined Carers First in 2014 and is responsible for managing the central functions which include the Carers Hub, Community Involvement and partnership and stakeholder links for the new geographical areas.
Malcolm Ryan, Lincolnshire Operational Services Manager
After 28 years as a Children’s Services Senior Manager in the
local authority, Malcolm jointed Carers First in August 2016 as the Operational
Services Managers for Lincolnshire. Malcolm will use his experience in people
management, implementing Quality Assurance improvements and project development
to further progress the Carers First Service in Lincolnshire.
