Carers First have been awarded the contract to provide support services for carers in Croydon, with a priority to work alongside carers to ensure they receive the support they need.

Under the plans, the Carers Centre in George Street will continue to operate, and the charity will work with carers to plan their future range of support.

Alison Taylor, Chief Executive of Carers First, said: “Carers First is delighted to be chosen to deliver much needed support to family carers in Croydon. The charity has been delivering services for carers for over 30 years and we are dedicated to working with carers to make a positive, material difference in their lives.

“Over the coming weeks and months, we will be listening to carers, understanding what matters most to them, and shaping services that reflect their needs.”

This will build on the engagement Croydon Council has been doing with the borough’s carers, as they have worked together to co-design its Carers’ Strategy 2024-2029 and shape services that reflect their needs.

Carers First are committed to working in partnership with carers to make sure the services they offer are responsive, accessible, and of the highest quality. They will be engaging with carers through meetings, information sessions, and one-to-one conversations to answer any questions and provide support throughout the transition.

Their goal is to support carers in the way that best suits them, providing continuity where it’s needed while exploring new ways to enhance the service.
