UCAS has introduced a new section in the application process for student applying to start their course in 2023; you will now be able to share further information about your circumstances with the university or college you are applying to, including if you are an unpaid carer.

Having the opportunity to provide this information ahead of joining the university or college will allow for time for them to best prepare and connect you with the right support for your needs to ensure you have everything you need when you start your course.

Laura Hughes, Carer Support Advisor for young adult carers in Lincolnshire says:

"This is a brilliant addition to the UCAS application process for young adult carers. By enabling people to identify as a carer at the application stage to University, UCAS is helping ensure the student's potential university can put the right support in place for them while they study."
