Carers First Southend teamed up with Southend City College this week to bring 18 local carers a much-deserved wellbeing and pampering experience and the result was a day filled with smiles, relaxation, and meaningful connections.
Carers enjoyed a variety of treatments delivered by enthusiastic students who were eager to put their skills into practice. Many carers said they had such a great time they wanted to take home a price list so they could return with some joking they may become “regulars”. Others said they loved being part of the students’ learning journey, describing it as uplifting and fun.
One carer told us she arrived feeling anxious, as she rarely takes time for herself. She left feeling calm, refreshed, and more resilient proof of the power of a little wellbeing magic.
A highlight of the day featured a young carer in elective home education who dreams of working in beauty therapy. She had the chance to experience the college environment first-hand, chat with current students about the course, and get excited about her future career path. Her parent also received helpful one-to-one guidance from a tutor about enrolment, making the family feel confident about their next steps.
Carers First Southend would like to extend a huge thank-you to Tracy and her team for their warm welcome, excellent communication, and for creating such a fun and supportive atmosphere.
This successful collaboration highlights the vibrant community spirit between the college and Carers First Southend and both organisations look forward to future opportunities to bring more feel-good experiences to carers in the area.
