Newham London Borough Council held a Carers Festival at the end of March 2022. The festival was an opportunity for carers to find out about local support and services in their area, as well as an exciting day filled with music, food and inspirational speakers.

Carers First, alongside other local organisations providing support and advice to carers, were invited to attend and talk with carers about carers rights, planning ahead, mindfulness and more. This event was an incredible opportunity for carers to feedback to Carers First and the council on their experiences accessing support, there were interactive workshops to help in the development of a new carers charter and carers resource pack.

There was an amazing turn out of 175 unpaid carers and over 90 professionals who came  together to provide advise, support and celebrate.

In attendance was councillor Zulfiqar Ali, cabinet member of Health and Adult Social Care, Carers First Chief Executive, Alison Taylor, and Sara Challice, a care advocate and author of best selling book "Who cares? How to care for yourself whilst caring for a loved one".
