Carers First plans to launch a new support service for young carers aged 5 to 18 in Southend. The charity will offer group activities, events, school support, and assessments for young carers in the area.
The new project will provide exciting career opportunities as Carers First is looking for a Young Carer Support Worker and Team Lead to join the team.
Emma Summers, Service Manager for Essex, said: “We hope that this new service will deliver much needed help and support for Southend’s Young Carers.
“We aim to support young people who are in a caring role by offering them support and the opportunity to have a break from their caring role and meet others who are in a similar situation.”
The Young Carer Support Worker’s role will include completing statutory assessments, providing information and support including one-to-one conversations, running support groups and activities, and working to identify young carers in Southend. One of these roles has already been recruited.
The Team Lead will head up the delivery of support services for carers across the Southend Borough.
Their tasks will include managing the Carer Support Advisers within the team, providing personalised information and advice to carers, building partnerships with commissioners and other organisations to create better outcomes for carers.
