Carers First is pleased to have partnered with The Citizens Advice Essex consortium to identify and support carers in Essex, Southend and Thurrock who are struggling with their energy bills, as part of a new county wide initiative to help those most in need.
Funded by UK Power Networks and provided by the Citizens Advice Essex consortium, the service provides practical advice and support for those experiencing fuel poverty.
The service will be available to support people in fuel poverty who are on low incomes, using prepayment meters, in energy debt or simply struggling to pay their energy bills.
The new service is designed to help people to improve their financial situation by identifying and helping secure additional sources of income, accessing opportunities to improve the energy efficiency in the home, and by providing practical and actionable advice on how to reduce energy consumption and improve debt.
The new service provided by the Citizens Advice Essex consortium also complements Citizen’s Advice’s other locally-based services, such as specialist housing advice, specialist services for people affected by cancer (funded by Macmillan) and local sources of emergency support.
Carers First Essex is a network partner of The Citizen's Advice Essex Consortium and can make referrals on carers' behalf to request this support. Alternatively, carers can self refer.
