Carers First are excited to announce that we have received a grant in aid of funding the Men Do project, targeting men over 50 years old in the East Lindsey area. This grant has been awarded to Carers First by the Freemasons' charity, MCF.
The efforts of the Men Do project are focused on engaging men aged over 50 to be social, making friends and engaging with their local community, this ranges from outdoor activities to virtual events such as online quizzes.
Sarah Vines, Men Do Project Lead, said: 'Our initial focus has been on older men who are, or used to be carers; people for whom other demands have meant opportunities may have passed them by because of their caring role. Our programme is trying to change that by offering a range of activities that will appeal to a section of the community who are socially isolted and more likely to deny pain and weakness, conceal emotional fragility, and be reluctant to seek help. All of those things can result in poor health outcomes for older men.'
