Carers First is celebrating after being awarded £261,255 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.

We will use the funding to increase our reach and impact with unpaid carers. The project will start in April 2023 and will develop bespoke Programmes of Support with carers for different caring situations. This will include new information tools and resources, condition-specific workshops, support groups and wellbeing activities. This will help us reach over 100,000 unpaid carers over the next three years.

National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive. To find out more visit www.TNLCommunityFund.org.uk

Vanessa cares for her daughter

It’s great to see Carers First increasing its information and support tailored to caring situations. It would have helped me a few years ago in caring for my daughter. She developed severe mental health problems caused by prior trauma and physical health. I know I would have appreciated more information on navigating the system to get her the help she needed. As well as meeting other carers in a similar situation.

Alison Taylor Chief Executive

Carers experience different challenges so being able to provide support tailored to their situation is hugely important. The funding from this grant means that we can develop new information, tools and resources for carers personalised to their needs and situations, enabling us to reach and support more carers. Thanks to National Lottery players, we can make a material difference in lives of thousands of carers.
