Carers First are delighted to announce that we have received additional support from Children in Need to support our young carers in Medway.
Children In Need
As a grant holder with Children in Need we have been successful in accessing additional support for our young carers in Medway. We have been accepted onto a free, online programme specifically designed by their expert partners at Anna Freud, to enhance our skills and build on the trusted relationships that we have already established with them.
These relationships are vital to support children in managing their feelings when they are beginning to struggle as a result of their caring responsibilities. The programme will help our staff to have the confidence and knowledge to listen to children, clarify concerns and know where to get additional help if a need is identified.
Money Heroes
We are delighted to have been chosen to be part of an exciting programme for 3-11 year old young carers living across Medway. Children in Need have partnered with HSBC UK and Young Money to develop the initiative.
Money Heroes will help to improve young carers money management skills, financial capability skills and knowledge, and become more confident in decision making about money from an early age. Support includes project worker training, mentoring, practical resources and a small grant to assist with project delivery.
