Kent Online News recently spent time with our Project Manager Ellen Smith to cover an inspiring partnership between Carers First and Essex-based organisation Training2Care. Building on the success of immersive dementia training delivered in Lincolnshire through National Lottery funding, Training2Care generously donated a session to Medway.
The event brought together carers, staff, local businesses, and professionals for a hands-on experience that challenged perceptions of dementia. Those who attended shared how the training gave them a deeper understanding of dementia, learning that dementia is far more than memory loss or behaviour changes.
Importantly, both carers and staff were interviewed, sharing powerful reflections on how the experience will shape the way they support people living with dementia. Journalist Kristin also took part in the training, and her report featured not only on Kent Online’s website but also in their daily live news broadcast.
