Carers First have been running Family Empowerment Workshops, developed with and for young carers and their parents in Medway. The workshops took a whole-family approach and provided space for young carers to learn more about looking after themselves while supporting someone with mental health needs.

The feedback we received was really wonderful to read - thank you to everyone who came together to make these workshops a reality.

Our next workshops will run on:-

9th September

14th October

11th November

9th December

We would like to thank the Colyer Fergusson Charitable Trust for funding these sessions and making them possible.

"The course was really useful. I have learnt new strategies and feel confident using the techniques."

"I found it helpful to explore as a family. It has given us tools to be able to communicate on mental health issues, empowerment and resolution as a family. Subjects that are usually quite difficult to broach."

"The session was really positive and helped me feel objectively about my situation and how I may be able to make my family a more positive place."

"It was nice to be able to discuss these matters in a calm environment and especially good to see my dependant's views on the matter too."
