This week is National Work Life Week. An annual campaign by @workingfamUK to get both employers and employees talking about wellbeing at work and work-life balance. Employers can use the week to provide activities for staff, and to showcase their flexible working policies and practices.
There are approximately 5 million people in the UK are juggling caring responsibilities with work - that's 1 in 7 of the workforce. However, the significant demands of caring mean that 600 people give up work every day to care for an older or disabled relative.
Many of these carers are unaware of support available to them in their caring role. It is imperative that employers are aware of carers in their workforce, are able to identify carers at the earliest opportunity, and are aware of support available to carers to enable them to access needed support, to aid them in achieving a good work-life-caring balance.
Find out more about the support available to working carers on our website here. or download the Working Families toolkit for employers here.
